Fellow Post Members,
I hope everyone out there is as excited as I am for spring and the warmer weather.
As of now we are planning a program for Memorial Day, and the agenda is as
follows:
The day starts at 1000 Hrs. at the Sijan Memorial followed by a luncheon and
program at On the Clock Bar and Grill with food and drinks (2) per person limit,
provided by the Post.
Till then stay safe and healthy.

April showers bring May Poppies. It's almost Poppy time. I have 8 Poppy Volunteers
for Poppy Distribution on May 27 & 28th. I will have a Poppy distribution meeting
on May 3rd @ 6.30 PM at On the Clock restaurant. I will assign businesses to each
volunteer & hand out Poppy materials (Poppies, Baskets, & Money collection cans).
Volunteers can turn in their money to me @ 3725 S. Lenox St. Milwaukee. If you
have any questions I can be reached @ 414-481-2075.
I have also mailed out 200+ donation letters to all members & 10 Permission letters
to the appropriate businesses. I think we are ready for the Poppy Distribution
campaign to begin.

Thank you for electing me as Finance Officer for another term. As always the
interests of the Post are paramount in my thoughts and improvement of our
financial position is my personal goal.
We will finish fiscal year 2021/2022 under expense budget in most categories
and exceeding budget in a few categories including Legion Awards, Ads and
Promotions and Supplies and Services. Unbudgeted expenses were approved
in these categories by the membership for an awards plaque, recruiting ad, and
recruiting banner. All were worthy purchases, and budgeting for 2022/2023 will
be improved. Preliminary budgeting took place in June and a final budget will be
presented to the membership at the September 6th 2022 General Membership
Meeting.
The investment environment remains uncertain due to continuing events such
as the war in Ukraine, inflation rate and Federal Reserve driven interest rate
activity. The value of our current investment portfolio remains below its value as
of January 1, 2022 and we have made no additional investments. We continue
to hold a substantial gain. There has been what appears to be a stabilization in
the investment markets over the last several weeks, but in my opinion it is too
soon to tell whether this calm period is just another "head fake". The Investment
Committee will continue to look for appropriate investment opportunities.
If you have questions about our investments or finances, please make it to the
next General Membership meeting on September 6th 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Come for
meeting discussions, and stay for after meeting refreshments. I hope to see you
in September.

Post everlasting Transfers
Raymond O Schaetz left us while at his seasonal residence in Florida on February 21,
2022 at the age of 100. He was a 23 year Post 180 member and a WWll Vet.
Charles Cortte transferred on March 10, 2022. For those who may not know, Charlie
was a 22 year member who held various Post officer positions such as Commander,
Vice Commander and prior to my appointment, Chaplain. Charlie was an Air Force
Veteran who served in Vietnam. Upon his return to Milwaukee he eventually
became a Milwaukee Fire Fighter, and worked in the Milwaukee Fire Department
Medical Units as a Medical responder.

The Post Executive Board often requests the membership to advise the Board of
potential new members. The recent changes in eligibility requirements now allow
almost anyone who has served honorably, since WWII to be able to join the Legion and
Post 180.
I mention this because two members of our Post transferred to Post Everlasting.
They are Ervin G. Kaye, a 59 year member, and James M. Soike, who was with the
Post for 11 Years. They passed away and transferred on November 18, 2021 and
October 14, 2021 respectively.
Respectively Submitted,
Steve Weslowski, Chaplain
